That gold is a striking color. The second bird has a laced effect on his breast. What I would call a gold laced Brazil? Very nice, I can see you've been at this for a while!
The brazilians have been described as the thai of the western world. It is my understanding that they are originaly a mixture of shamo, asil and spanish. The style of most brazilians has been described as wrestling birds with power.
Other than the brazilians, my only other family of fowl is my old Cook blue family (miner blues as recived from Mr. Cook) and a few "grasshoper catchers", hatch/whitehackle blend pullets. I just recieved as a very nice gift a "Charlie Brown" Brownred today. I went over for a visit and he gave me the cock. It is nice to have friends. He's known the blue fowl of mine longer than I have. He thought the brownred is a cross I should try and sent me home with the rooster. I don't raise a lot of fowl and put the small, in small time breeder. This year I am breeding from four (wait, five now!) american pairs and four brazilian type pairs. I believe single mating and keeping good records of the offspring produced is the best way to advance a family of fowl.
This is a picture of one of my Cook blues, his name is Perfection....He bites! But, only if you are not VERY slow and gentle. He reminds me to handle him nice. As long as I do my part, he will be gentle. The tendancy to nip in american fowl is one of the reasons I like the oriental type fowl. They are almost always very gentle to handle.
I`m at the other end of the world in South Florida. Don`t know if I mentioned that. Leaving on a little trip today, going to see some of my oriental chicken buddies in No. FL. Taking a pair of Blue Brazilians to one of them and getting a black Asil stag from the other. Will be gone until close to the end of the month, so don`t think I`ve abandoned ship. Keep the faith........Paul
